Nurme — purest beauty
Natural cosmetics since 2009

From a home kitchen, since 2009

Nurme began in 2009 in Marit Tiits's kitchen, with the first hand-cooked soaps. Today we make natural cosmetics from hair to toes in our own factory in Tapa, and there are three generations of us. One thing hasn't changed: what goes on your skin is truly natural.

The beginning

A gift that became Nurme

Marit started making soap at home, first as gifts for friends. When they said their skin felt softer, it became clear there was something to it. In 2009, when Marit and her mother Luule were made redundant during the crisis, they founded Nurme Seep. Luule took on production, Marit the recipes and sales. In the early days about 500 soaps were made a month.

Craft

Recipes are born in our own house

Every product starts in our own kitchen and lab. We make the recipes ourselves and each one passes through Marit's hands. Bar soaps are made by the cold process in small batches and cure for at least 30 days. We haven't used palm oil since 2017, and we don't test on animals. Today we have eleven collections, from hair to toes.

Growing

From 35 to 3,000 square metres

We grew little by little. From the home kitchen we moved several times, until in 2022 we reached a former bakery in Tapa, Lääne-Virumaa. From a 35-square-metre kitchen we have grown into a 3,000-square-metre factory, and today we are one of the three largest natural cosmetics makers in Estonia. In the middle of our biggest growth Jimmy took the helm, because two people were no longer enough. Row gently and you'll go far.

Three generations behind Nurme

When rapid growth burned Marit out in 2020, her husband Jimmy stepped in to lead. Marketing is run by Miia Liisa, the same daughter whose birth in 2006 started Marit making soap in the first place.

Everything is made in our own house in Tapa, by real people's hands.

What we believe

Natural ingredients

The scent comes from essential oils. No Nurme product contains silicones, parabens or synthetic fragrances or colours.

Less packaging

One refill saves four plastic bottles. In a single year, over 20 pallets of plastic were kept out of circulation thanks to solid shampoos.

Honesty

We state the ingredients, origin and percentages exactly as they are. We name the exceptions ourselves too.

Made in Estonia

Everything is made in our own factory in Tapa, from formulation to packaging.
